Chant pour Tou.te.s

Jams of vocal improvisation and body music, free and open to all

Description

THE CONCEPT

Chant pour toustes are vocal improvisation and body music jams. They are organised in lots of different places by lots of different people. They have 4 characteristics in common:
vocal and body music: a cappella singing, beatbox, body percussion
●improvised on the spot: no cover versions of songs
free of charge: donations are welcome to pay for the hire of certain venues that do not make their premises available free of charge.
open to all: young and old, singers or not… no singing and/or improvisation experience necessary!

THE STORY

The origins of chant pour tous go back to two people from Lyon, Gaël Aubrit et Simon Reina Cordoba, who have embarked on the adventure of vocal improvisation and body music. They imagined sessions halfway between concert, workshop and open stage, where everyone could come and sing and improvise together. The first “Chant pour tous” took place in Lyon on 16 March 2012. Between March 2012 and June 2013, Gaël and Simon organised around twenty Chant pour tous at various venues in Lyon, with increasing attendance.

The initiative has begun to spread outside Lyon and Chant pour tous have since been organised in Paris, Marseille, Montpellier, Brussels, Liège, Nantes, Rennes, Clermont-Ferrand, Rouen, Annecy, Avignon, Lodève, Besançon, Laval, Valence, Valleraugue, Challans, Baden, St Marcellin, Aubagne, Langeac, Crest, Grandris, Quincieux, at several festivals, and even overseas in the USA, Canada, Guadeloupe and Cambodia. Many towns now have regular Chant pour tous.

THE PLACES WHERE I FACILITATE

I’ve been leading Chants pour tous for all since 2015. Wherever I’ve lived, I’ve sown the seeds of this magical initiative. My work is split between Brussels and the Rhône-Alpes region, so I lead Chants pour tous, sometimes in Brussels, sometimes in Lyon, sometimes in Seyssel/Annecy/Geneva, and sometimes elsewhere. I don’t have a fixed schedule and I sometimes decide at the last minute to join a co-hosting group. If you want to be kept up to date, the best thing to do is to sign up for the various newsletters from the venues where I run events.
